One of the first things that Philippa wanted to do when she moved into her flat at Vale House in February 2025 was paint it pink! The Housing Manager agreed that this would be a great idea, and we think the results speak for themselves!
Despite this being Philippa’s first time in supported accommodation and her first time living independently from her family she has been supported by staff with everyday tasks such as shopping and cooking to help make the transition as stress free as possible and prevent any feelings of isolation.
Philippa is encouraged by staff to maintain a healthy routine and structure, but they also understand the importance of respecting her choices without fear of judgement. Whilst staff are available 24 hours a day, they do not encourage dependency but instead promote independence and self-sufficiency.
As Philippa continues to develop confidence and trust with the support staff her desire to expand her social network and participate in more tenant focused activities has also increased. She is very happy to share her interior design skills, and we think she’s done an excellent job!
